What is That?

...
On Friday I looked out the back window and thought, "What is that? There's something odd on the grass, just left of the paving." :-\

...so I went to another window for a different angle and realised it was Flopsy doing what he does best - flopping down to snooze! You can see his sibling, Cottontail (who is always more perky and active) sitting washing his face in the top left corner of this photo.
Here's another angle of Flopsy's flop...
...and a close up... Doesn't he make sleeping in the grass on a warm summer day look pure bliss? :-)

  2. Oh, thank you for this! How delightful. I do miss wildlife outside the windows. It's been a while since I last visited you, and I'm sorry for that. Love the swan in your header. Gorgeous.

  3. what a flopsy flop! He's a real flopper isn't he! I'm chuckling away, loving these photos. So surprising to see a bun flopped out in full view - I'd think that they'd do that under a bush, or someplace that felt enclosed. Clearly, he feels very safe.

question though. ahem. how do you know at this distance that it is a bun boy and not a bun girl? sorry to be indelicate, but - it seems curious to be so certain.

  4. Of course, you have to take the question in context. I'm staring at cows in the next field and trying to be certain that they ARE cows, and figuring out if they're pregnant or not. (Yes and 2 of the 3 have now calved). As big as they are, at 1/2 mile distance it was tough to do more than hazard a guess. A creature so small as a bun? I don't think I'd be able to tell in a million years.

I know, I want to go lie on the grass now. :-))

    Hi Grace :-)
    How are you?
I thought about you just recently, but that's as far as I got. In other words... I'm just the same when it comes to blog hopping lately. This year has zoomed by too fast!

I keep having this image of you squinting at cows in the distance. LOL It sounds like part of some weird ancient proverb. "She who stares at cows..." now how would it end? ;-)

Yeah well, I went with "he" after a bit of deliberation. "it" seemed too impersonal. Even at full flagrant flop it's not possible to tell if Flopsy is a he or a she (LOL), so I just went with he. It may be altered if one day Flopsy returns to dig burrows for a dozen floplets. :-D

  6. Very well, thank you for asking. I semi-retired earlier this year, so I get to spend a little more time creating, writing and catching up with my blog friends these days--and most of it well before midnight! It's amazing what a good night's sleep, repeated over several months, can do.

Glad to be back visiting you, especially.

  7. Good to hear you're doing well. I see you have three blogs now. Wow. I have more catching up than I realised. I loved the article on zero waste and the one about the people who recylce and re use everything. Africa can be a lot like that too. Here in our area of Scotland they recycle as much as they can, but the thing that truly frustrates me is that the only plastics recycled here are milk bottles and plastic bags. The rest still goes to landfill.

Re: sleep... our least appreciated natural resource. Humans so undervalue sleep. Not me! I'm almost as bad as Flopsy. ;-)
