5 ~ Say NO to Nuclear

5 of the 60 ways of Peace challenge - say NO to nuclear.

One of the most famous peace symbols is the so-called "Peace Sign", but it was originally created to be a symbol for the March for nuclear disarmament, held in London in 1958.

Here's one of the original ceramic lapel badges made for that march...

The symbol was created from two semaphore signals in a circle:
N and D - Nuclear Disarmament.

Remember that the next time you see a Peace sign anywhere. :-)

Partridges Passing Through

Today, we had some unusual guests in our back yard - Grey Partridges! I took some photos through the kitchen window...

You can click on the pictures for a bigger view.

They are quite small and very round. Almost... pear shaped? ;-)

They noticed me here, so I had to stop taking photos.

I found a short video on the RSPB website, so you can see them in action. Very charming little birds.

20 ~ Vote for Peace

20 of the 60 ways of Peace challenge - Vote for Peace.

When it comes to politics... be picky. Choose who you vote for wisely.

Which political parties have a history of supporting unnecessary wars?
Which parties are anti-nuclear?

I know who is who in my country. I know who I choose to vote for.

How about you?
