This is my Childhood Home...

If you live in the UK, the Zimbabwe Vigil group meets outside the Zimbabwe Embassy ( 429 Strand, London) every Saturday from 14.00 to 18.00 to protest against gross violations of human rights by the current regime in Zimbabwe. The Vigil which started in October 2002 will continue until internationally-monitored, free and fair elections are held in Zimbabwe.
The Glasgow Vigil is meeting every two weeks so the next one will be on 3rd May.

Wherever you are in the world you can still add your prayers.

  1. PLEASE put a "subscribe by email" on your blog so I can keep up? I NEVER remember to check blogs I like unless I'm subscribed to them and I've been missing out on your blog for a YEAR because I don't remember to go check it. I love your blog.

  2. Michelle,
For some reason, I wasn't allowed to see the picture, and I was very curious as to where you grew up. If there's another website that has the same picture, let me know. Thanks

  3. Hi Vince

I'm originally from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (back then "Rhodesia"). I'll see if I can find some pictures for you over the weekend.

  5. How incredibly heartbreaking, Michelle. Much light and love to your hometown. I can't imagine how it must feel for you to view things like this.

  6. Sad and disgraceful that the county's government is uncaring enough to allow this to happen.

I gave up praying some time ago, Michelle, but I'll hold your homeland in my thoughts, wishing on a kinder future for it than this cruel present.

  7. Oh dear...this is indeed sad. :-((( I hope that the condition will be better. But most of all I hope that they still have hope for a better future, because things can change. I'll remember them in my prayers!

  8. Thank you Holly, Twilight and Amel

I don't really have words to express the sadness and anger/frustration of knowing this is happening and not being able to do anything to stop it.

  9. Have you heard of this? http://discuss.takingitglobal.org/8099 It was set up by Irshad Manji (my hero) and Project Ijtihad. I though you might be interested--human rights are a hot topic at the forum. And it brings more awareness to these things that people would rather not think about.
